#4: Community

As a Staff, our ultimate desire is to Preach the Gospel and Make Disciples. You will hear that over and over this summer. One way that we proclaim the Gospel and disciple others is by the unity we have together as a community.

Students will hear powerful messages and have deeply personal conversations with you on activities and your hall. However, an intangible way that students will understand the power of the Gospel is by the way we love and serve one another as a Staff. We believe the tighter community we are in Christ this summer, the more energized and more powerful we'll be in our ministry to these teenagers.

One of the ways we encourage COMMUNITY amongst you guys is by organizing STAFF SOCIALS in which you can participate. We will be letting you know what those are very soon, but we wanted to give you a heads up that the weekends this summer will be full of opportunities to REST but also to develop deeper friendships with Staff. The Staff Socials will be optional (and only take up a portion of the weekend as a whole), but are highly encouraged and always full of good times. So, as you think of those weekend requests that you need, consider sticking around as much as possible! So many staff alumni are still incredibly close to their fellow staff members because of their commitment to just be available and be present. So don't go home unless it is of the utmost necessity!

Community doesn't happen accidentally.

It takes intentionality and space to happen. It is also more than just being social and involved in activities.  However, we believe the organized social times can help us lay the groundwork so that we can go deeper on an individual level.

We want you all to be praying about being a community-builder this summer. What does that look like? It is being hospitable, keeping an eye out for those that don’t immediately connect, including others on inside jokes or exclusive conversations, being the one who invites and not just waits to be invited. Include, Invite, & Initiate is another saying you will hear a lot this summer. Do not be exclusive to others on staff you may not know very well, but rather be intentional with them and see where that friendship will lead.
