#5: Expectations
We can't wait to be on mission with you this summer. In just a few short weeks you will be packing your car and headed this way. We want to give a quick word of warning and encouragement as this season of ministry quickly approaches.
Don't expect that drive to Anderson, SC to magically change you. Please don't come here on empty. Don't come here having lived this past semester consumed in the world and in sin! Don't do that!
Don't decide to care about teenagers coming to faith in June and not right now! Don't live for Jesus this summer and ignore Him right now! Finish school and this Spring season well-- and we're not just talking about the report card on your classes, but the report card on your character.
How is it going guarding your eyes? How is it going guarding your heart against evil? When is the last time you got alone with Jesus? When is the last time you prayed for someone in person? When did you share about Jesus or speak of Him with someone last? Are you gathering with other believers and obeying Him?
It is a sad but common conversation that first week of camp where we find out that some of the staff we hired have been trapped in sin over the previous semester. Each year, some have confessed to an addiction to pornography, sexual sin, alcohol, drugs, or gossip/slander/drama. Others have confessed that they haven't gathered with other believers all semester, never opened their Bible, or neglected sharing with others about Jesus. Do any of these resonate with you? Now's the time to have these conversations! We know most of you aren't close to us quite yet, but will you take that bold step to reach out to us now so we may begin to encourage you in a deeper relationship with Jesus?
Camp is exposing! You are in a bubble where it's impossible to keep the walls up, so let's start the process now of letting those walls down. Text one of us or reply back to this email if you want to have someone on our team reach out to you.
Praying for you all! Remember, we all fail, but the mark of a follower of Jesus is perseverance.
"Today if you hear His voice; Do not harden your heart!”
Love you guys! See you soon!
